Bill Cunliffe burst onto the world jazz scene in 1989 when he won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano award. He studied with the legendary Mary Lou Williams and has worked with the likes of Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Benny Golson, the Clayton Brothers Quintet, Joshua Redman, Ray Brown and Terrell Stafford. He arranged for and toured with the Buddy Rich Big Band. He has composed and arranged for many jazz artists, symphony orchestras and vocalists and earned nominations for a Grammy in 2003 and 2005.

Bill's recorded work includes 13 CD's as a leader including his most recent, Imaginacion, featuring his original works for a 10-piece latin band. Don Heckman of the L.A. Times says that Bill's arrangements had "the sumptiouness recalling textures associated with Gil Evans." Keyboard Magazine's Ernie Rideout says "...hearing Bill Cunliffe on CD is always a major treat....his playing is inventive, melodic and souful." Bill is currently teaching in the jazz program at Temple University.
