Brent
Gallaher merges a sound steeped in the jazz tenor sax tradition with
a decidedly contemporary approach to improvisation. Whether burning
up-tempo or emotional ballad, his elegant and intelligent solos are
always full of surprises. Michael Steinman of Cadence
Magazine says Brent "offers big-toned, clear melodic lines."
Nina Goodrich of Jazzreview.com comments
that his playing brings "a classy touch to the jazz scene."
While
active in performing and recording with many diverse groups including
the art-pop group Over The Rhine, The
Brent Gallaher Quartet
occupies much of his performance time. Brent released his first
CD as leader with that quartet in 2004 entitled 'Vanessa's
Song'. Joshua Musselwhite of Jazz Improv
Magazine calls the disc "an excellent album for the jazz
modernist. Great tunes, great blows, great harmony - this album has
it all."
